Safari Blue a very special product comprising a full day excursion exploring the very beautiful Conservation area of Menai Bay, south-west of Zanzibar Island.

'Safari Blue' departs from the fishing village of Fumba exploring from there the sandbanks, islands, lagoons and wonders of the Bay and the Indian Ocean in the comfort of our traditional dhows.

'Safari Blue' starts at 09.30am from Fumba, about 18km from Stone Town, which takes approximately 40 minutes.

On arrival the participants are given a short briefing about the programme for the day and safety on board.

MENAI BAY
Recognizing the natural beauty and environmental importance of the area the Government of Zanzibar designated Menai Bay a conservation area in 1998.

This was an important step in preserving the ecosystem of the bay for the long-term protection of the extensive tropical biodiversity, coral reefs, sea grasses, mangrove forests and dolphin and turtle population.

SAND BANK
The most stunning natural creations must be the two pristine sandbanks of soft white sand which rise out of the turquoise blue of the Indian Ocean. We stop at one sandbank in the morning to snorkel over the coral reef and then to relax and swim. There we offer fresh green coconuts and a light snack.

After snorkelling we go to Kwale island where we have our “desert island” restaurant. The buffet lunch includes fish, slipper lobster, calamari, rice and sauces all served hot from the grill. Our crew also prepares and presents a gastronomic fruit tasting with a large selection of delicious tropical fruits
